Dedicated to winning in the ultra-competitive arena of supermoto racing, the FS 450 uses advanced engineering to optimise power and centralise mass. Launch and traction control, and a new Quickshifter deliver perfect power off the line and into and out of every turn. Class-leading ergonomics mean optimal control all the way to the flag.
Supermoto is a style of motorcycle racing that is a combination of street and dirt-bike racing that has its own events. Supermoto bikes are light and nimble and are designed for all-terrain riding. This rugged sport has been around for decades, and you can find an inexpensive, used supermoto on eBay.
Because of the specialised differences that supermoto bikes have, like bigger sport tyres and more powerful braking, these bikes are meant for racing on specialised supermoto tracks. You can race your supermoto bike in any supermoto race and also in motocross races if allowable. Supermoto races are usually not restricted for engine sizes, but motocross races are set to certain engine types, like races for 150, 250, and 450 classes.
You can find supermoto bikes that are produced directly from the manufacturer as such, like new and preowned Yamaha supermotos, or you can also find supermoto bikes that have been modified from other types of dirt bikes. These modified bikes are often fan favourites and have special features.
Well it is almost always going to be cheaper to buy a stock supermoto if you are going new. If you buy a new dirt bike it will cost at least another 1000.00 to convert to supermoto. The advantage is that you have a dirt setup if you want to use it. If you go used and can find a bike that is already got a supermoto setup that would be the cheapest way to go. Buying a used dirt bike and then converting will probably be cheaper than buying a new supermoto. I looked at all of these options and ended up getting a new drz supermoto. One of my friends bought a used drz s and converted, we spent about the same amount of money. He has a dirt setup to use, I have the better suspension and a new motor, and an all around cleaner bike.
The 2019 Husqvarna FS450 is a great turn-key supermoto in a field of one. In this review, we put the FS450 through its paces to see if Husqvarna built a supermoto winner you can go and buy in dealerships.
Two of the new models Kawasaki just showed us are the KLX300 dual-sport and KLX300SM supermoto. Both get an updated version of the fuel-injected, liquid-cooled single from the KLX250, bored out six millimeters to increase displacement to 292 cc. With adjustable suspension and bigger brakes for street-going duty and a curb weight, fully fueled, of 304 pounds, the supermoto looks like great fun. 781b155fdc
